History of The Wharf Restaurant
The Wharf Express is a culmination of hard work, dedication, perseverance,
and a genuine love for the product and customer.
The Duggar's passion
for seafood and the 'way of life' for the local fishermen is seen and
tasted in all of their entrepreneurial endeavors and Wharf adaptations.
Their main objective:
to bring fresh seafood, from the coast, straight
to your table.
Their journey began some forty years ago in the wholesale seafood
business, eventually garnering over 13,000 accounts, world-wide. After
consecutive hurricanes, it became evident that a new direction should be
taken in order for their own economic survival, thus, the opening of the
"Wharf Seafood Restaurant" in 1986 -- no doubt, a different, new, and
exciting concept for Tallahasseans. It was marked with resounding
success, and was soon considered one of the top seafood restaurants in the
state of Florida .
Through the evolution of people's culinary taste (due, in part to the rise
in popularity of "The Food Network"), The Wharf eventually expanded their
menu to include a more diverse and unique type of seafood
fare.
Customers were thrilled with the change, and welcomed the new
menu items with open arms.
Unfortunately, in recent years, hard economic
times have 'hit' with a loud, resonant sound, that ALL of us are
undoubtedly hearing.
THIS was the catalyst for the opening of The Wharf
Express, a faster service, more cost effective way, of enjoying a great
and still perfectly prepared meal, by a family who cares about their
product and customer.
Their goals and philosophy are no different today,
than they were when they first got into this business in 1986, announcing
to North Florida that "The Coast Is Here", their trademark slogan.... and
thankfully, it still is!
We Bring the Coast to You!
